Why Vitamins A, D, and K Work Better Together

February 27, 2026 . Elizabeth Heitzmann

Vitamins A, D, and K (ADK) are often talked about separately, especially vitamin D, but they are designed to work together. And yet, it is involved in over 300 processes in the body.

In my practice, I frequently see people supplementing vitamin D on its own. While vitamin D is important, these nutrients function best when they are balanced.

That balance matters.

How These Vitamins Work Together

Vitamin D supports calcium absorption. Vitamin K helps guide calcium to where it belongs, particularly in the bones. Vitamin A supports immune health and works in coordination with vitamin D.

When these vitamins are taken together in proper balance, they support the body more effectively than when one is taken alone.

This is why I always look at the full picture rather than focusing on a single nutrient, and you should, too.

Fat-Soluble Means Intentional

Vitamins A, D, and K are all fat-soluble. That means they are stored in the body.

Because of that, dosing and balance are important. More is not better. Thoughtful, individualized support is key.

Supplementation should never be about guessing. It should be about understanding your current needs and supporting your body accordingly.

A Balanced Approach

ADK is not about adding more supplements. It is about restoring balance where it may be missing.

When used appropriately, these vitamins can support immune function and bone health in a way that aligns with how the body is designed to function.

As always, supplementation should be personalized. The goal is not to overwhelm the body. The goal is to support it in a way that feels aligned and sustainable.

Healing starts with understanding what your body needs and honoring its design. Learn more on my YouTube channel.
